How to change from Celsius to Fahrenheit, Change the battery and get the last reading on your Vicks Digital Thermometer. V966/V912 How to Change from Fahrenheit to Celsius. Start with the thermometer OFF. Hold down the center button until the display shows Lo. Then release the button. Press the button again to move between Fahrenheit (F) or Celsius (C), to choose the desired scale. Once the “C” or “F” starts to blink, push the button again to turn off the thermometer. Turn on the thermometer and the display will be in Fahrenheit (F) or Celsius (C) based on the scale you set in the previous steps. Your thermometer will default to Fahrenheit (F)when you replace your battery. How to change the battery. The battery is depleted and needs replacing when the “▼” symbol appears and flashes in the center top of the display. Using a coin, unlock the battery cover and carefully remove the battery. For models: V912, V912US or V912USV1, V966, V966US, V966USV1- Replace with a 3V, CR1225 silver oxide battery. For models: V912USV2, V912USV3, V912BBUSV2, V912BBUSV3, V966USV2, V966USV3 - Replace with a 3V, CR1632 silver oxide battery . Insert the new battery in the positive (+) side facing the battery cover. Replace the battery cover using a coin and tighten. Make sure the cover is completely secure after replacing the battery. How to get the last reading. To get the last reading on your thermometer, press the power button and continue to hold for 2 seconds. How to get an accurate temperature reading on your Vicks ComfortFlex Thermometer and Vicks SpeedRead Thermometer V966/V912. 15 minutes prior to use, avoid eating or drinking any liquids, smoking, or taking a shower or bath. How to take an oral temperature. Cover the thermometer’s tip with the probe cover. Place the probe tip well under the tongue. Close the mouth while measuring. Keep inside the mouth until you hear 5 beep signals. Remove from mouth to read the accurate temperature. How to take an under arm temperature. Wipe the underarm area with a towel. Next cover the thermometer’s tip with the probe cover. Place the probe tip under the arm so the tip is touching the skin and position the child’s arm next to their body. With a young child , it is sometimes helpful to hug the child to keep their arm in place. When the peak temperature is reached you will hear 5 beep signals. Remove from under the arm to read the accurate temperature. Under arm readings produce a temperature 1° lower than a temperature taken orally. How to take a rectal temperature. Cover the thermometer’s tip with a probe cover and lubricate with a water-soluble gel (Do not use petroleum based product). Lay the patient on their side. For an infant, the proper position for a baby is to lay on its stomach with legs hanging down, either across your knees or at the edge of a bed or changing table. This positions the infant for safe and easy insertion of the thermometer. Gently insert the tip of the thermometer no more than 1/2 inch into the rectum. Hold the thermometer in place during measurement. Keep inserted until you hear 5 beep signals. Remove the thermometer from your baby’s bottom to read their temperature.
